Birding Specialist Course for Field Guides
This course will provide the learner with in-depth knowledge and skills to conduct guided birding experiences and further their own birding competence and experience. Candidates who have successfully completed the FGASA Level 1 or FGASA Level 2 courses can enrol for the Birding Specialist Qualification.
The process of attaining the FGASA Birding Specialist Qualification entails the following :
- Complete the guided birding experience workbook
- Birding slide identification assessment for a specific area or biome
- Birding sound identification assessment for a specific area or biome
- Conduct a guided birding experience (NQF4) practical assessment
This will qualify the candidate as a Birding Specialist Guide for relevant areas or biomes.
At the start of the programme the course attendee will receive the following:
- A FGASA Field Guides Information book
- Bird Guide Learner Manual (Study material)
- A learner support pack, which includes the following:
- Introduction to the programme
- Workbook
- Assessment guide
- Portfolio guide
- Self assessment guide
- Bird lists
